River Island wish list - 25/07/13

This morning I felt like looking at the River Island website for the first time in a while. Now I wish I hadn't! I went on it looking for, maybe, a couple of pieces for a wish list post but I liked so much that River Island now have a post of their own! Crazy.

A point I am going to make now - I am one of those sad people who looks at the A/W collections ridiculously early and looks at what styles I will be wearing come September/October. I much prefer the winter fashion-wise. You get to layer and wear darker colours - I tend to experiment far more in the autumn than I do in the summer. Therefore, the majority of this post consists of items I want for my new university year and that I will not be able to afford because OH MY GOD I know how to pick the most expensive items on a website.

Here we go!

BLUE TRIBAL PRINT BUTTON THROUGH MIDI DRESS: Yes, I am aware that it is still summer. Some of the shops haven't even had their summer sales yet! I think this dress is super cute and probably can be dressed up or down. You just need to pair it with a pair of converse or sandals and your done. I wouldn't even try to wear it in the winter - the print is too summery! However, it is really cute and if I was going on holiday abroad I would probably buy it. However, I'm going to somewhere between Hastings and Eastbourne instead so I don't think I can get away with buying a whole new holiday wardrobe unfortunately :(

DARK GREEN PLEATED MAXI SKIRT: I really want to get myself a new maxi for autumn this year. Sure, I won't wear them in the lab but hopefully I wont have more than two days a week in the lab this year. I have wanted a dark, bottle green maxi for years and River Island have one this year! It is expensive at £35 and I'm not usually too keen on pleated skirts (they can be VERY unflattering) but if I find it in store and love it I might have to buy it. It can be dressed up and down and I just want a bottle green maxi skirt okay?

BLACK BELTED HIGH NECK VICTORIANA DRESS: This follows from my last point, this is a versatile dress! I don't mind spending money on something if I know I can get a lot of wear out of it. Unfortunately for me, I usually buy an expensive item and never wear it. However, my cheap New Look tops (think my velvet peplum top) or Primark blouses get the most wear. Sad but true - I still think this dress is pretty cute though.

NAVY TAPESTRY PRINT NECKLACE SKATER DRESS: I love this! I love tapestry and have never had a tapestry dress. This is expensive - £45! But again, it is so versatile! Ack - maybe I'll be living on spaghetti on toast and porridge for a few months at uni to afford a couple of these dresses! Oh, and I'd have to give up my odd vanilla latte.

BLACK SHEER PUSSY BOW BLOUSE: I love wearing blouses and jeans. You just look a little more put together if you are wearing a blouse, jeans and a pair of boots rather than jeans, a hoodie and Converse. I really want a blouse with really poufy sleeves like this one. Sure, I'm not too keen on pussy bow necklines but I would deal just to have a blouse with puffy sleeves.

LIME TEXTURED NECKLACE T-SHIRT: Lime has been my colour of the season and the shops have been kind with giving me all kinds of lime and yellow/green to love. I know a lot of people will dump the neons once September passes but I intend to be wearing lime all through the winter. I love it! Another plus - it might wake me and other people up during our 9am lectures. Paired with a black skirt or pair of jeans and I'm sorted. Ah, I want a lemon and lime lolly now.

TAN BUCKLE CUT OUT ANKLE BOOTS: I have just bought a new pair of black buckled boots to replace my studded boots and I really want a pair of chelsea boots this year. Actually, I can't decide if I want a pair of chelsea boots or worker boots. I'll have to see what the high-street has to offer later in the year. I have my brown Topshop boots from last year but unfortunately one of the rings to lace up the boots broke off so I do have excuse to buy a new pair of brown boots. I love those Topshop boots (that everyone had!) and will keep wearing them. A girl can never have too many boots in the winter.

Yes, yes she can.....

LIME SHIRRED TEXTURED TUBE SKIRT: Like I said, I like lime! Don't worry, I wouldn't wear both t-shirt and skirt together. I love my black jersey pencil skirt and get so much wear out of it. I don't expect this skirt would be any different. Wear it with converse, boots, pumps - whatever! Again, it'll wake me up in the morning. I'm going to need it considering I'm so far away from campus next year. I can't wait!

So that is my wish list from the current River Island collection. I think I am going to have to work a bit harder on the diet if I am going to get a couple of these bits - although I have been in the gym today and have my ballet class again on Sunday. I think I should go and get practicing.

Have you checked out the new River Island A/W season? Isn't it lovely?

Rachael xoxo
